I AM NOT FEELING THE HOPE
Posted on 08 February 2008 by Mario
I will support whoever the Democratic nominee regardless of who it is. As I talk to people from all over the country most, if not all, of Hillary supporters agree with me but only about half of Obama supporters tell me the same. It makes me pause.
Today Obama called for Clinton to release her tax returns so people can see where her 5 million dollars came from. A nasty attack from the guy who hates nasty attacks.
In the ObamaLandia the hit on Hillary is that she is in bed with corporate interests and he is not. She is evil and he is pure. The recent Obama inference without proof that Hillary is getting money from nefarious sources feeds the divisive dragon that Obama has stealthily unleashed against Clinton for over 10 months. Apparently Obama now feels strong enough to launch the attacks directly. To a certain extent at least the directness is an improvement.
The Obama call for total transparency I think needs to be met with a call for total intellectual honesty on his part. It may be the time for Obama to explain that while he does not take money from lobbyists he does take the money from their household accounts under the name of their spouses. Does anybody really believe that Mr. Lobbyist Smith is beyond asking Mrs. Non-lobbyist Smith to write a check to the Obama campaign so that he can deliver it and attend the next top dollar Obama event? How many checks has the Obama campaign received from the households of lobbyists? Also now that we are in the total transparency mode can we get a count and a list of the names of the “full time volunteers” on the Obama campaigns that are registered lobbyists? If you need some help I have spotted a few myself to help you get the list started.
While I am sure to get heat from angry Obama believers for even calling for fairness in the debate I can’t stand the hypocrisy any longer. If Obama is intent on pulling the country together he can start by ending his divisive inter-party campaign and stick to the issues at hand. The wear and tear at Clinton has already created a number of his grassroots supporters to claim they will stay home if he does not win the Democratic nomination because Clinton is “divisive” and in the hands of “lobbyists”. Is this the product of the politics of hope?
